About ToolRates
ToolRates turns US hospital injury data and recall notices into plain-English pages for every common tool.
ToolRates shows how often common tools send people to the emergency room, what those injuries are, and which tools have been recalled. It covers 45 tool types across power tools, hand tools, lawn and garden equipment, ladders and generators.
We are independent. We are not paid by tool makers or retailers, and we are not part of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The data is public, and we explain exactly how we use it on the methodology page.
